Black Businesses Still Matter

According to Google Trends for the U.S. the search term “Black owned” reached the peak popularity during the May 31 to June 6, 2020 time period. Since then, the interest over time for the search term has largely been on a downward trend, with a few spikes in June and July.

This means that since June of 2020, people in the U.S. have been using the term “Black owned” significantly less when searching on Google. This might be due to a reflection of reality. Black businesses see support during special occasions or when awareness is high and then drop when it’s no longer trendy.

When black-owned businesses are in high demand, these companies are more profitable. Showing your support helps contribute to creating entrepreneurial opportunities. When we support black-owned businesses, we are supporting black communities. So shop or use black-owned businesses whenever possible.

At The Hyacinth Group 56% of our clients are black-owned businesses. Black-owned businesses are eager to support each other. My support has come from close to home. I have been blessed to not only have my sisters companies support me as clients with their companies Light Node Media crypto event agency and CRMmety a Salesforce consultancy in the English Speaking Caribbean.

They have recommended our services to their friends and we’ve gained clients such as Karibu 365, My Hood Exchange and Frameworks Projects. We have also worked with other Black-owned businesses like Millennial Matriarch, Africa Oakland, Jay Bailey, Embracemakeup, HandDman Serivces LLC, JAX Digital LLC and ILoveMyFro through my own personal network.

The majority of these businesses are female-owned and operated. There is an underlined trust when working with someone who shares your same ambitions, hopes and dreams. We want to build on that trust we’ve gained and continue to help our black and brown business owners as well as any others.
