What is a Design Process?

A design process is important because a good one will determine if your vision is communicated properly. You want your brand to be represented well. Whether it is a logo, a website, your social media, or merchandise, you are going to want it designed to your liking. The best way we accomplish that is through a solid design process.

Here at the Hyacinth Group the first thing we do during our design process is to establish what you need as a brand. This is where we ask our clients what they are looking for.

What do you NEED for the Design Process to begin?

We need to know what you are looking for so we can do our job and begin looking for the right solution. Is it a logo? Is it a website? Is it content creation? Is it all three? We want to make sure we cover all aspects of our client’s wishes.

Do Some Research

Not only is the information you provide from your brand important, such as products or your mission statement, we also gather information in your industry. Doing a simple search online will produce a wealth of information that will serve as the inspiration for us as designers. It also helps you as the client to see what is out there if you haven’t done that exercise yourself. Inspiration can come from photos, history of your immediate area, or even a story about how your brand started are ALL great starting points.

Make a Plan &  Mood Board

From our research, we then put together a mood board which serves as a plan of attack. Here we cover all the information we gathered during our research and put it all on a board so we can see the big picture. This serves as a preliminary visual representation of the inspiration that will transform into the final product. What is it that makes your brand unique? Do you sell services or products? What kind of products? These are all important questions we ask and will be presented here. 

Choose a Direction & Develop it

Not everything here is going to be incorporated into what we are creating. We not only want to know what you like, we want to know what you don’t like. This is just as important. This helps us narrow down which direction you want to go in and where you envision your brand going in the future.

Finalize the Design

After we make a choice, we typically come up with a first draft which will need some tweaking to get it to the final product. It’s good to get feedback from your peers or anyone who has your best interests in mind. Sometimes we hit the nail on the head and sometimes it just needs more work but this is the beauty of design. When it all comes together. We all want the same thing. We want to provide our clients with the best product for them because making your brand a success is how we measure our success at The Hyacinth Group.
