Client
Africa Oakland Clothing Company aims to increase the representation of African art and culture through fashion. She celebrates the social, economic, and educational connectedness of African heritage throughout the world. Centered on the principle that creativity and innovation have always been intertwined with social justice in the African Diaspora, she offers products that support under-resourced communities.
Project Details
Josephine Ayankoya, the Founder and creative director of the company, was looking to completely rebrand her logo. She came to The Hyacinth Group with open eyes and ears, and coached us on the way she wanted to present her clothing brand. She was looking to capture the African Diaspora, along with keeping her hometown, Oakland, etched into the branding as well. She found inspiration in black resilience and creativity for black beauty through culturally affirming products.
Process
We started with a scheduled Inspiration + Research review with the client, developed a Design Mood Board, then came up with two different ideas for rebranding. We then presented these ideas to the client, and she chose one. Finally, we provided the client with a complete branding kit.
